Wedding Dances

Des Moines Dance instructors provide private lessons to teach you to dance for many different reasons. You might want to learn to dance for your wedding, prom, cruise, or some other special event. You may also want to improve you dancing in specific dances that are not currently being offered in a class. We also offer private lessons for those who want to go beyond the group classes and make you a serious social dancer or get ready for a competition. If you choose to purchase a group of lessons they must be taken within one year of purchase.

PLEASE NOTE: private lesson times are extremely limited and we only have a few time slots per week that we can assign. Do not pay for private lessons online until you have had confirmation from us that we have time slots available to teach your lessons. We are giving priority for private lesson to those people who are currently taking group lessons. If you want to take lessons for your wedding dance, it will be advantagous to also enroll in a group class as well. With the limitation of time slots available, we must reserve time slots for those who are either more serious or those willing to get some of their training in group classes. Any other slots available will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

All private lessons are one hour long and include sales tax. This allows you to get significant learning time with no additional charges. All private lessons are given at Dance-A-Cross at 1970 Grand Ave, Suite 38 in West Des Moines.

Currently private lesson time slots are very limited due to available time at the location we teach and a large number of on-going regularly scheduled private lessons. Some of the days have limited hours due to group classes and limited availability of the private lesson dance floor. Time slots are on a first come, first serve basis and all private lessons are by appointment only.

All private lessons can be tailored to your dance and your special music. Private lessons can be used to learn dances of your choice. The pace of the lessons will be adjusted to your learning style. For a wedding dance you will usually need a minimum of 3 or 4 lessons to be ready to dance a single dance and an additional lesson to allow the teacher to choreograph your dance routine. Private lessons are $55 per hour or $250 for a package of 5 lessons, or $480 for a package of 10 lessons and both packages must be paid prior to the first lesson.

We can also provide special private lessons for small groups. Pricing for small group private lessons on a per hour basis is:
2 couples - $80; 3 couples - $100; 4 couples - $120 and $10 more for each additional couple.

If you would like to dance a number of different dances then you may need 6 to 10 lessons. If you have time you should consider attending a Level 1 Beginner Ballroom class. This class teaches 4 different dances over 8 weeks and will get you ready to dance for any occasion.

Newcomer/Wedding Dance Special

As of July 1, 2018 we are eliminating the Newcomer special. If you would like a 5 lesson wedding package, the cost is our normal 5 week package of $250 for 5 lessons.
